Weekend Warrior Outdoors Founder Writes In
I recently did a post on a website I ran across called Weekend Warrior Outdoors. Over the weekend one of the founders, David Knupp, read it and sent me a reply. Although I still believe the membership fee is high, his reasoning for it makes sense. I know his email has increased my interest in his company and venture, and I’ll be watching how it progresses. I wish him luck with it.
Here’s what he said:
Cliff,
Hey someone tiped me off to your blog comments on my company. Thanks for looking at our website.
Let me explain a couple things. Yes, we are brand new…after several year pondering wether or not this concept would work, I decided to go for it…so far the interest has been very high, and we are excited about the future.
The member ship fee is high for a couple reasons. One is to detour unusable footage..we are only looking for serious people..who will help grow this concept. Second, the membership fee goes towards offsetting the high editing, production, replication, marketing, distrbution, and sales cost of the productions. Our productions will be first class…as good (edit wise, and production wise as anything currrently on the market today.) or better. Even with the membership fee this does not cover everything..the balance is paid through sponsorships and off course my own pocket…I’ll get it back through my cut of each DVD sale.
Our end goal is to produce a HD formated TV show. After a couple successful DVD’s we will select those members that consistantly produce the best footage suited for our productions…we will then contract say 40-60 people to help us with the TV show…no famous hunters here…just real passionate guys and gals doing awesome hunts.
We hope to have our first DVD out this summer. We already have 30 members with another 12 or so on the bubble….and footage is starting to trickle in.
This is not a gimmick or a scam. Its for real and I can promise you I will take it to the forefront of outdoor DVD and TV prodution.
I’m sure we have some gliches in our idea and will have to adjust along the way.
Thanks for looking and please keep in touch.
