New Hunting News Source?
While browsing this morning, I found a Press Release on Topix.net for The Hunting Wire. Here is a short quote from the release.
Sounds good, doesn’t it? I’m always in search of a new service to get the most up to date hunting news and info, so I checked out their site. Being a new launch, there isn’t much there yet, so it’s a little hard to make a judgement call on it yet.
The concept is sound, and it may well be an excellent service once it gets established. The few press releases they have posted so far are informative, and that was something I worried if would happen when I realized a marketing firm manages it. As long as they’re able to continue delivering a balance of quality information along with promoting products and services, they may do well.
The one thing I did notice though is a few spelling errors on their site. While I know anyone can have some when they write, I know I do, it raises concerns when you see it on a site like theirs. It is all about image, which is mostly perception, and such small errors can affect that perception for some people. The most glaring error I noticed was this one on their Hunting Resources page:
“Mussel Loading
Now I’m sure that they intended it to be “Muzzle Loading, not “mussel which is the freshwater version of clams. Such a mistake, in and of itself, is fairly common, but when made from a site that wants us to rely on them for accuracy of information, it becomes at least questionable.
I’ll hold final judgement until there is more to go on, but I hope that they make an effort to correct the errors in spelling they have. The potential for a good resource for hunting news is there, now it will just be a matter of seeing if they are able to achieve and maintain it.
