NASP Introduces Archery to Students
I wasn’t aware of the NASP until doing some research on the internet today and stumbling across a link. Am I ever glad I did, since this is a program I whole-heartedly support and am willing to promote. As far as I’m concerned, there is no better way to introduce young people to archery while building excitement and increased participation in their educations.
First launched in Kentucky in 2002, the program has now been implemented in 42 states and Australia, with other states and numerous countries considering it. In the United States alone, there has been 1.4 million youth participate in Archery through the program. And the goals of the Education and Wildlife departments that cooperate on the project have been realized, as is evident in the testimonials on the program that can be found here.
I know that if such a program had been offered when I was in school, I would have participated in it. Many of the skills and traits I learned many years later when introduced to archery would have been instilled a lot earlier, and I would have discovered my love of archery hunting even sooner than I did. I can’t see where either of those could be a negative thing.
I highly recommend everyone to check out their site and find out about the program. And then see if their is a way you can become active in it. It is a worthwhile project to help our kids, and maybe even help the sport of archery and archery hunting.
