Hunting Sense Blog Hunt #5

by

I know I just did one, but with everything that has been going on, this is an easy post. Especially considering the quality of posts my fellow outdoor blogs deliver on a regular basis. Hopefully, next week I’ll be able to get back to trying my best to add my own posts to such an incredible community. So here it is, Blog Hunt #5.

New Definition Of “Gun Control”

It’s a phenomenon that gives the term “gun control? a whole new meaning: community ordinances that encourage citizens to own guns.

Last month, Greenleaf, Idaho, adopted Ordinance 208, calling for its citizens to own guns and keep them ready in their homes in case of emergency. It’s not a response to high crime rates. As The Associated Press reported, “Greenleaf doesn’t really have crime … the most violent offense reported in the past two years was a fist fight.? Rather, it’s a statement about preparedness in the event of an emergency, and an effort to promote a culture of self-reliance.

Perpetuating Hunting: The Three Be’s

In my opinion there are three simple things we can do to help make sure our grandchildren and great grandchildren have the opportunity and the inclination to enjoy hunting. Those three things are:

Be Supportive
Be Welcoming
Be Together

None of these things are very hard to do, and if we all concentrate on remembering the 3 Be’s, as I’m going to call them, I think hunting will exist far into the future.

Outdoor Blog Marketing 101 - Don’t Block The Exits

However, I run across people with this type of blog all the time. I’ll call them ‘arrogant’ blogs where the exits are all blocked. The blogger does not put ANY links up that point anywhere outside their own site. They want that visitor exclusively for themselves. I can tell you, unequivocally, that only the absolute most famous and reknowned people can get away with this sort of arrogance. It will backfire on you or I (I’m assuming that if you are so reknowned that you can get away with absolute arrogance that you probably aren’t reading my blog).

Paul loaded her on the 4-wheeler and took her across the property to a stand called the Bird Point. A nice field seldom hunted that was perfect for watching deer.

Thanks for mentioning the “Three Be’s” posts. I’m pretty proud of those.

I have to agree with you, there are a lot of writers turning out some high quality posts. I’m so pleased that so many of them are aligned with the Outdoor Bloggers Summit.

By the way, is your wife feeling better? Did things get straightened out. I’m thinking it’s time for another post from the wife.

Thanks for the link and choosing my article, among other great articles, for your Blog Hunt #5 edition. I am glad you liked the article and think that it contains real common sense about lowering crime rates and keeping people safer.
