Hunting Sense Blog Hunt #2
The Hunting Sense Blog Hunt was suppose to be a bi-weekly feature and I have already messed that up by being a week late for Issue Two. I guess better late than never. Here are just a few of some terrific posts made by my fellow outdoor bloggers. Keep up the great work and thanks for some great reading!

Owling My Deer
My First Deer With A Bow
At an early age, we were taught that when my father came off his stand and it was time for us to move out of the woods, he would call like an owl. I have heard him call hundreds of times and you can not tell the difference between him and a real owl. I have watched while he called owls in to us. The purpose was to not disturb the woods and we could all slip out without any undue noise. Years ago, when we hunted up at Abbeville, we had located an area where a dark colored and very smart big buck lived. We called him the Shadow. We never got him but had some great times hunting this area. This is about the time I got my first deer with a bow.

Hunting Safety Tips: Gun Safety Rules
Turkey season has begun in a lot of places, and I’ve seen at least one story about a turkey hunter being accidentally shot. By and large, most hunters are careful and educated shooters, who know and follow the rules of good gun safety. There are always a few, however, who get excited and either forget the rules or choose to ignore them. Sadly, the result can be an innocent person who gets injured or even killed.
Outdoor Odyssey
Froggin’
What is it best called, Frog hunting, gigging, grabbing or shooting? I’ll choose just plain Froggin’. It is the most different of all the hunting sports. Thinking about it, I have never gone Frog fishing, as such, but have caught a Bull Frog on a small, Frog popper and was rewarded with quite a battle on a fly rod.

Cliff,
Thanks for the mention. If you’ve not been by the blog lately, I’ve instituted a new feature, Safety Fridays. Every Friday I do a post on some aspect of hunting or outdoor safety. Hopefully it will remind at least a few people to be safer.
I also though Rex’s post was a hoot, pun probably intended.

my father is Daniel Boone, Davy Crockett, Fred Bear, Gen RE Lee, and Jeremiah Johnson all rolled into one. I have learned a lot though.

When we come in after dark, me and my boys do a “Rebel Yell”. It carries farther and may just scare some unwanted critter away!
