Hunting & Fishing Permission Form
How many times have you sought permission from a landowner to hunt, fish, or use their property for other outdoor recreational activities? If you’re like me, probably more times than you can count. How many of those times have you gained permission but only verbally with no physical proof? How many times has it been written proof but hastily written out on a piece of blank paper with very little specific information and only one copy instead of one for you and one for the landowner? Probably a few times, right? Same here.
Those are the very reasons I decided to create a two-part permission form for outdoorsman and landowners to use when agreeing to the use of private land for hunting, fishing, and/or other outdoor recreational activities. It’s a detailed form that can be printed off and taken with you and filled out by you and the landowner, with a portion to be retained by you and a portion to be retained by the landowner as a record of the agreement. It makes it simple and may even help display a level of responsibility that could be a help in a landowner deciding to grant you permission to use his/her land.
I will also work on a cover letter to go with it containing a code of ethics and common courtesies you will abide by when using the landowners property. I think this will go a long ways in helping to increase a person’s odds of gaining permission from a landowner. I’ll try to have it done and available in the next couple of days.
