Hunting #1 Global Activity

Yes, you read that right: Hunting is the #1 global activity. From the North Pole to the South Pole and all around the globe, every person is hunting. They may not classify themselves as hunters, but the fact that they are isn’t changed just because they don’t realize it.
I would love to say I’m talking about hunting in the way we sportsmen think of it, but, sadly, I’m not able to. What I’m talking about is hunting of any kind. The thing is, in a round about way, no matter what kind of hunting it is, it all relates back to the type of hunting we do.
Looking at hunting as the physical act of the pursuit of game, there are two ways to further break it down. One is hunting for pleasure and recreation, while the other is for survival. Depending on exactly who you are, you fall into one of the two groups, or maybe even both. While many of us aren’t able to use survival as a reason for hunting and do it simply because we enjoy it, there are still many people in the world that has to rely on it for their very existence.
Looking at it in these ways, you can then take hunting and general and make the same connections. No matter if a person is hunting for a job, a house, a car, a pair of shoes, or whatever, they fall into the same categories. People hunt for things simply for pleasure (because they want whatever they are hunting for) or for survival (hunting for a job to put food on the table).
In a way, you could look at these other types of hunting as an evolution of the traditional type of hunting. That raises the question, for me, is hunting so ingrained in our makeup, that no matter how far we advance, we still have to find ways to do it? As far as I’m concerned, the answer is yes. No matter which form it is, hunting is still hunting in it’s simplest form.
Wouldn’t it be nice, if all those people that are anti-hunting could see it this way? Of course, it’ll never happen because everyone has his or her own perception of right and wrong, even when doing the same thing. But if they were able to, we actually could say: Hunting is the #1 global activity and would be in agreement.
