Buck of a Lifetime?

This is a picture of my cousin’s son Tyler and the awesome deer he took this previous hunting season. This is what my cousin posted when letting me know about Tyler’s deer:

“I wanted to tell you about the deer my son Tyler took this past Sunday. We were invited by a friend to go hunting in western Oklahoma next to the Kansas line. My son mad a 377 yard shot on a GREAT buck. It was a 8 point with two stickers coming from the bottom one on each side. The buck has 7 ¾ inch G1’s and G2’s, it is 20 ½ inches on the inside and field dressed at a whopping 170 pounds.

My son is only 14 years old and this is the 5th season that he has been bunting with me. This was his 4th buck to take and the 13th deer he has taken.?

As you can see in the picture, it is definitely what may be the buck of a lifetime for many hunters. I can’t begin to express how excited I am for such a young hunter to harvest such a tremendous animal. In fact, I’m actually a little on the envious side.

And for anyone who doesn’t think Oklahoma can produce some nice size bucks, here is some serious proof to the contrary. While this buck was taken near the Kansas border, a state notorious for their big bucks, other areas of Oklahoma offer the same type of animal. Both northwestern and southeastern parts of the state provide great opportunities for hunters looking for this calibre of deer.

Tyler, congratulations! I hope you get many more in the years to come. Maybe you can pass some of your expertise on to me and your dad.
