Blazing Orange Over Hunting and Drinking
Here’s a novelty for all you hunters and beer drinkers out there. Miller High Life cans are going blaze orange this fall, and the 24 and 30 pack boxes are getting a hunting theme makeover.
I’m not against having a beer after a long hunt, but I can already see trouble brewing over this decision. Hunters already fight a bad rap day in and day out, and beer in a blaze orange can is only going to add fuel to the fire on the general publics beliefs that hunters are nothing more than beer drinking, gun toting morons. In fact, if you read the comments left on the above article, it has already started.
Like most, I know very few hunters who would drink while actually hunting, but they are out there. And it is the actions of those few that make what Miller is doing into something more than what it is. Which is to sell their beer, make a profit, and give some of it to foundations like Whitetails Unlimited, Pheasants Forever and the National Wild Turkey Federation. As far as I’m concerned, the last part of that is a pretty good thing.
So, for those who are going to make a big fuss over this: there’s a large percentage of hunters who have strong beliefs against hunting and drinking. And those idiots who drink while hunting, it isn’t going to matter if it’s a blaze orange can or a pink and purple one, they will drink no matter what the packaging is. Don’t lump those of us who like a cold one after we come in for the day with those who are just plain dumb.
hunting, hunting sense, beer advocate, beer, guns, hunter, blaze orange

Seems like a cute idea by Miller that might back fire on them.
Unfortunately, there are a few idiots that damage the reputation of the rest of us. The truth is that any idiot that is in the woods with a gun and drinking alcohol at the same time isn’t really a hunter in my book.
Now, pass the beer.

I think it comes down to the issue of image…how does this effect the image of hunters? I try to think of what an anti-hunter organization might think. Fact is, if Miller thinks they have a market for orange beer cans, then it means we buy it. While most hunters probably are responsible, anti-hunters will focus on the few who make the headlines. That being said, I ask, “What good comes from drinking out of orange cans?”

It’s just a novelty item that Miller is offering and it is going to a good cause. I say we all need to lighten up a bit. I am torn however, cause to certain people it will paint us in a bad light, but those people already have us painted in anyway. I do agree that anyone who drinks and hunts at the same time is a bafoon!!! Plain and simple.
Personally, I don’t drink Miller, so I don’t have to worry about it:)

I didn’t realize they were giving some of the profits to worthy hunting and conservation related organizations. That makes me like the idea a bit btter.
I’m with Arthur though. I don’t drink beer so it really doesn’t make much difference to me.

Although it seems like a really cool idea for Miller products to do something like this I personally see a problem (MAJOR),problem w/ this!!! Hears the problem, there are alot of people out there that drink this product, and have absolutley NOTHING to do with the hunting world, that us hunters have to indulge in every day with PETA idiots and the anti-hunters doing their thing, but they dispose of their cans out their windows, on the side of the roads near fields, and tree lines were there may be hunters working the fields or woods, people will see these hunters and thier “hunter style beer cans” and we will be the ones getting blamed for the land distruction due to litter!! Now I’m not saying all hunters are angles by any means or non-litterers but as you can figure out WE will be the first ones to get THE BLAME!! Sorry MILLER but this is a concerne of mine and many other hunters out there. If there were a vote on this I would be fully against this idea!!!!
Oh by the way I drink Miller Genuine Draft (in the can) Don’t litter and do hunt for food.
P.S. I’m just a concerned AMERICAN! Thank You
