Awenda Provincial Park
Over the weekend we finally got to forget about work and what needed to be done and headed to Awenda Provincial Park for some swimming and hiking. The water was downright cold since Awenda’s beaches are on Georgian Bay, a part of Lake Huron. After being in it for a while, though, the temp became comfortable and we had a lot of fun on the beach.
We left the beach area eventually and headed off for some hiking on the numerous trails maintained by the park. In total, I think there’s around 30 kilometers of trails, allowing visitors to explore nearly every part of the park. I have to say, that is what the wife and I enjoyed the most. On the trails, there were no sounds except those we made and those of nature. It was quite invigorating.
We even got a chance to see a doe that was browsing nearby at around two in the afternoon. We spotted her just after we reached the top of a set of wood stairs leading up the Nippiseng Bluff. She stayed there watching us long enough that we got to pick the little guy up to see her over the fallen trees between her and us. Unfortunately, by the time we realized we should take a picture, she was already gone.
All in all, it was a fun and relaxing day trip. It really did make us feel the yearning to get out to camp, though, so maybe we can get back out there to do that before too long. Right now it’s back to doing renovations on another room of the house. Below are some pictures we got for you to enjoy, same as we will be until we go out again.
