Archery Season

I’m sure that most archery hunters dream of a buck like the one to the left, taken by crossbow in Ohio. But even if they don’t get a chance at a monster like it, they are still glad to be back into the woods, sitting on stand, with their bow in hand. For many, it is the long awaited therapy from the stress and headaches of everyday life that they have so desperately needed for most of the last year.
It’s now time to see if all their off-season work they put in to making the hunting season a successful one pays off. And while doing so, they get to take the opportunity to actually sit in silence and enjoy the true beauty of nature as they wait. For me, that has to be equally as fulfilling as seeing my hard work scouting and planning pay off.
There is something sacred and soul-stirring as you climb into your stand before daylight, watch the woods come to life as dawn breaks through the treetops, and sit becoming a part of nature and all her creatures surrounding you. It is then that you throw off the bonds of the modern world and are fully embraced by nature, becoming one with it again. It’s a natural high, a religious experience, and spiritual cleaning that can only be achieved by partaking in once again.
So, as we venture into the woods this October, let’s not let the desire for big racks blind us to what hunting really has to offer. Take time to enjoy the experience, let the woods revitalize you, and become one with all of nature again.

Very, very well said.
Everyone needs to take the time every season to just kick back and take nature in. And if that buck of a lifetime walks by, even better! If not, you have a memory and an experience that will stay forever.
As Fred Bear said “It cleanses the soul”. How true. I can’t think of a better feeling than sitting in a stand, with bow in hand, waiting! Awesome!

So very well said.
To be there in that stand, when the darkness gives way to light. To once again know the feeling, there is nothing like it.
Not just hunting,it is my time spent, with what God has made for us to enjoy.
Be safe and good hunting to all my fellow hunters.

I agree…all of the hustle and bustle of big racks can take us away from what we’re really after. That being said, I wouldn’t pass on a bruiser like this one!
